New Zealand Institute of Health Management – congratulations


Fellowship is the highest membership category awarded in the College. It is a significant professional achievement and is awarded by the College to those individuals who have demonstrated to their peers that they have the knowledge, attitudes, conceptual and communication skills to be recognised as senior managers and leaders in the health and aged care industries. Fellowship within the ACHSM is recognised both nationally and internationally and it demonstrates an on-going commitment to excellence in health service management.


The awarding of Fellowship to a College member recognises the commitment to research, continuing professional development and learning, and application of knowledge in health services management they demonstrate.


Congratulations to Dr Anil Kumar Nair, Clinical Director -Emergency Department (Adult) for achieving the Fellowship on the RACMA Dual recognition pathway and Jan Adams, Managing Director at Bupa Australia & New Zealand and Ngaroma (Mala) Grant - CEO Te Arawa Whanau Ora for being awarded the Fellowship through the Alternative Pathway to Fellowship recognising Senior Leaders in Health.  


Congratulations to Natalie King and Kathy Davenport, two service managers at Canterbury DHB and Catherine Epps, Executive Director Allied Health, Scientific and Technical, Capital and Coast DHB for their recent success in Fellowship examinations 2018 at the ACHSM Congress in Darwin, Australia.


To pass the examination, one has to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of health funding systems, economics, strategies to address health inequalities, quality improvement and current theories of leadership and change management.


Congratulations to Sue Shipperlee, Manager Elective Services, Counties Manukau DHB who was awarded with the NZIHM Silver Fern Award for meeting the objectives

1.  To promote and motivate the pursuance of excellence in the management of health services in New Zealand

2.  To recognise outstanding effort and achievements in the management of health services in New Zealand
