Tsunami
Banda Aceh - The Hospitals Story
Presented by Dr Charmaine Tate
Charmaine is an Auckland Doctor
currently working as a doctor in the New
Zealand Army. She was deployed with the
Defence Force contingent to Banda Aceh
after the Boxing Day Tsunami. She will
cover the effect of the tsunami on
hospital and medical services as a whole
and then the issues they faced as the
hospital was transformed to a
functioning facility
Besides the deployment to Indonesia,
Charmaine has been deployed with the
military to provide health service in
East Timor and Afghanistan. She trained
in Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine
and has previous pre hospital medicine
experience with St John Ambulance. She
is the Chair of the Urban Search and
Rescue Medical Advisory Group and
Medical Advisor for NZ Land Search and
Rescue

seminar will be on Level 18 of our
building. Lift access is locked off at
5:30 pm. but someone to be in the Plaza
level Lobby who can key people up before
the presentation starts (ie until
about 6:00pm). After this time late
attendees will need to phone up for
access (ie they will need a mobile phone
with them). CGNZ Signs will be posted at
all the entry lifts to clarify
arrangements and to inform attendees of
contact phone numbers
