Post Graduate Degree in Clinical Education
for Health Professionals
University of Auckland.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Auckland would like to gauge the level of interest in a proposed degree in Clinical Education for practising clinicians and health professionals with teaching responsibilities. The course could be taken to Certificate, Diploma or Masters level.
The Certificate would be a one year programme including educational theory relevant to the clinical setting, clinical supervision and the development of expertise, practical teaching skills, assessment of health professionals and evaluation of clinical teaching.
The specialised course for progression to Diploma and Masters of Clinical Education would include Clinical Reasoning, Learning in Synthetic Environments, and Research Methods in Education. The course would be primarily distance taught, with 2-3 days block teaching per course.
To ensure a high quality degree of international standing, the intention is to work in collaboration with the University of New South Wales, who have an established degree programme in Clinical Education.
The anticipated commencement of this programme is 2007.
